MEET THE TEAM

Different backgrounds.

One approach.

Seawall is a family business, but we didn't all arrive here by the same route. Our backgrounds span glazing, architectural products, education, software engineering, program management, environmental science, and communications.

What connects us is simple: we solve problems, helping people, and getting projects right.

Anthony "Tony" Kasprzak

Co-founder & Principal

Tony brings decades of architectural products experience to Seawall, along with something that really cannot be learned from a catalog: experience on both sides of the wall.

He started working alongside Kristen's father glazing windows and curtain wall while still in high school, and later worked as a union glazier while attending college. His career also took him through healthcare and special education, including running a traumatic brain injury unit for adolescent boys. Tony holds B.S. degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology.

That mix of field experience and technical knowledge still shapes the way Tony approaches projects today. Over the course of his career, he has worked across an unusually broad range of Division 8 products and systems. That breadth of experience gives him an understanding of how the individual pieces of a project work together, not simply how one product performs on its own.

It is a perspective that is difficult to teach and relatively uncommon in the industry. Tony can look at a project as a complete system, understand the design intent, recognize where products and applications intersect, and help work through how the project should actually be designed and built. He has been known to ride bucket lifts to inspect windows, help wet seal when needed and jump in when a project simply needs another set of hands. For Tony, the technical details and the practical realities of the field have always gone together.

Outside of work, Tony loves his family, working out, traveling and just about anything that gets him outside and into nature. He is especially partial to a good sunrise or sunset and spends a lot of time with one of his best pals, Mac, his Jeep, which rarely seems to have the roof on.

Tony and Kristen are very much the extroverts of the family. They both love people, love to laugh and tend to bring a little energy with them wherever they go. Together, they are much more likely to become the life of the room than quietly observe it from the sidelines. Their twins used to joke before family outings, “Okay, we're going to have fun, but are you two going to behave?” It probably says everything you need to know.

One important warning if you are traveling with Tony for the day: eat breakfast. Tony has a long standing belief that lunch is optional.

Kristen Kasprzak

Co-founder & Principal

Kristen grew up around the glass and architectural products industry, although her own career took a few interesting turns before bringing her back to it.

With a background in business and teaching, Kristen spent several years as a Software Program Manager during the dot com boom, managing schedules, requirements, risks and coordination across multiple teams. After spending a number of years at home raising twins Nick and Katya, she returned to the workforce and spent five years with a defense subcontractor, where her work supported military and defense projects and earned her a project award.

Those seemingly different experiences turned out to fit together surprisingly well at Seawall. Program management taught Kristen how to manage complexity and keep people, requirements and schedules moving in the same direction. Teaching shaped the way she communicates and works with architects and customers. Even her time in the defense industry has an unexpected connection to Seawall's work today, particularly in security and protective applications serving military installations, government facilities and consulates.

Today, Kristen focuses on architectural consulting, specifications, project strategy, manufacturer relationships and business development. She is often the quieter force behind the scenes, looking at the bigger picture, anticipating what needs attention and making sure the right people, information and priorities are moving in the right direction.

Kristen also brings a teacher's mindset to the business. She would rather ask questions, share what she knows and help someone understand their options than simply sell them a product. It is a big part of the thinking behind Seawall's approach: Project First. Product Second. Always.

Kristen and Tony have known each other since first grade, grew up a street apart and started dating as teenagers. More than 30 years of marriage later, apparently neither has managed to get rid of the other.

Outside of work, Kristen loves family, the beach, books, writing, concerts, travel, her bike and just about any roller coaster she can find, especially at Disney. Some days she is just as happy climbing into Mac, Tony's Jeep, and heading out with no particular plan other than to find somewhere worth ending up.

Kristen and Tony are the extroverts of the family. They love people, love to laugh and together are much more likely to become the life of the room than quietly observe it from the sidelines.

Nick Kasprzak

Project Manager

Nick brings a technical, systems oriented brain to Seawall.

A graduate of Champlain College, Nick earned his B.S. in Software Engineering with honors. His background in software and game development taught him how to break complicated systems into manageable pieces, troubleshoot problems and adapt when requirements change.

At Seawall, that translates into project coordination, estimating support and technical problem solving, bringing together drawings, specifications, products, schedules and customer requirements.

Nick and his twin sister Katya were born three months premature, with Nick weighing just 2 lbs. 2 oz. It was an early beginning that became part of the family story, and both have since brought very different strengths to Seawall.

Nick is also an exceptionally kind person. When he was younger, his family used to joke that dogs just found him. Wherever he went, somehow there was a dog that wanted to be near him and seemed to trust him immediately. People tend to have much the same reaction. There is a quiet kindness about Nick that people and animals seem to pick up on before he has said much of anything.

Outside of work, Nick enjoys running, working out, software and game development, learning new things and coffee. Especially coffee when project days start early.

Katya Kasprzak

Communications

Katya supports Seawall's marketing, communications and digital presence while also building her full-time career as an environmental scientist.

A cum laude graduate of the University of Florida, Katya originally studied biology with plans to become a physician. Somewhere along the way she discovered that she really loved dirt and the outdoors, and environmental science ultimately won.

Her professional work includes ecology and protected species surveys, wetlands, environmental assessments, permitting and GIS/CAD work. At Seawall, she brings that same attention to detail to websites, digital campaigns, brochures and line cards, presentations, video advertising and architectural outreach.

Before beginning her environmental career, Katya also spent several years caring for elderly individuals with Alzheimer's disease, work that required tremendous patience, responsibility and compassion.

Katya is one of those people who will give her time and energy to someone without thinking twice. Just don't mistake kindness for being a pushover. She knows what she thinks, knows where she stands, and, when she needs to, will absolutely tell you.

Outside of work, there is a very good chance Katya is either at a heavy metal concert or baking something for someone she knows, or possibly someone she met five minutes ago.
